Self-Love and Acceptance

One of the major things i’ve learned over the years is that growth can never be stale. The minute you stop growing is the minute you are dead. As long as you are alive, as long as you’re drawing breath from Mother Earth, you have something to learn, and as long as you learn, you grow. It never stops. And as a result, I would love to address this specific issue.

It is terribly, terribly important, that if we want to experience any form of growth in our lives, we first need to love and accept that life we have. It comes from the idea that, I won't water a flower I hate. I'd simply pluck it out or abandon it all together. You can't grow what you do not accept. You can't be intentional about what you do not love.

I don't know what the society has made you believe, but you, of all people, need to start loving and start accepting yourself. Certainly, nobody is perfect. Certainly, you sometimes look in the mirror and wish you were fatter, or wish you were slimmer, or wish your eyes weren't so bulgy, or wish that your teeth was whiter. Sometimes you look at your result and wish you were smarter or you had better understanding about certain issues, and trust me, it's fine.

But look, if we keep focusing on things we don't like and hope could be better where we as people are concerned, we won't see any reason to love ourselves, and that is where we err. Instead of looking at the things you dislike about you, why don't you start focusing on the more positive aspects?

You might not be as tall, but you're beautiful. You might not be as slim, but your skin tone is amazing, your voice, your smile can weak knees. That you have gotten it all wrong in your exams doesn't make you any less smart.

The idea is to focus more on your strengths. That way, you come from a position of strength, love and acceptance to work on things you believe are your weaknesses. And voilà! Growth!

Remember, what you magnify in your life becomes your immediate reality. Self love and self acceptance will birth growth in your life.
