Nothing is imperfect until it is compared to what you think perfection should look like.
— Abiola Okun
Everything that exists in the world today has the innate ability to establish something. Whether they be things that have been created by God or by man, or whether they be things that you would argue were not created at all.
Take for example a chair that was created by man. That chair was a creation or a product of logs of wood that were a product of a mature tree created by a combination of man, seed, soil, water, sunlight, and the right environment, all of which were created by the Universe which was created by God.
If you argue that there is no 'God', I cannot be concerned by your unbelief. Just replace God with whatever else you think created the universe, and whatever created what created the universe, and so on, until you arrive at your absolute finite. You'd still arrive at the same conclusion; that everything was created by something and everything has the ability to create something.
Now, you'd be shocked that even the chair which is dubbed as the 'end product' in this case also have the ability to create things like firewood or another useful tool in a situation where the chair is broken down to create other things like the handle of an axe, a stool, etc. All of this can then create firewood, which when thrown into the fire will create charcoal, which will turn into ashes and go back to the soil as an added nutrient, some would argue, and the cycle starts again.
Everything is created. Everything creates.
By now, you get the idea, that everything is created, and everything creates. Now, a question. By what measure are the things created "perfect"? Whose scale or metric do you use to judge that one thing is perfect or isn't? At what point did the tree stop to wonder if the log of wood it would eventually create would be perfect? At what point did the chair think whether the firewood it would create would be perfect? At what point did the man stop to think if the child he would procreate would be perfect? Did the idea that their products or creations would be perfect ever stop any of these creations from creating?
Permit me, but even God created the earth and all that is in it first, before He saw that it was perfect! So why, why on earth do you let your fear of making a mistake or your desperation for perfection keep you from creating anything? God forbid the soil decided that it wasn't sure the tree that would come out of it would be perfect and decided not to give the seed life! The very fragment of our earth will break down in a split second.
You are a soil that thinks his tree won't be perfect, and so you have decided not to give life to the tree. Is that not sad? Is your planet not in jeopardy by this simple decision you have made? You were created, so why won't you create? If God didn't create you, or your parents didn't procreate you simply because of the lack of guarantee that you would turn out perfectly, would you have the opportunity to breathe here on earth? Are you even perfect? So why are you waiting? Why are you refusing to create something until it is perfect? Why are you refusing to put out that video because you are not sure of how good it is? (I admit I am referring to myself here).
If you aren’t perfect, why are you waiting to create something perfect?
I know I've written once before that perfection is a myth, but I will say this again, just as someone often says that nothing is small until it is compared, I would say again, that nothing is imperfect until it is compared to what you think perfection should look like.
I didn't mean for this newsletter to be this long, so I am going to simply say what I came here to say, what my dear friend, Eniola
said to me a few weeks ago. Just create!Never mind it being perfect, never mind you'd be laughed at. Never mind that you'd make mistakes. Never mind that you will be dragged by your father's name. Never mind that you'll fall and fail. Never mind that you will go broke. Never mind that your audio will be terrible when you compare it. Never mind that your design will look terrible. Never mind that your video will look funny. Never mind if your product doesn't taste as you want it to at first. Never mind if your writing has grammatical errors at first. Just create!
As you do so and don't stop, your skills will improve, your messages will be passed across, practice will compound unconsciously, and you will get better with every product and idea you put out there. Just create!
Create, show it, get feedback, and improve. That is the best way to become anything at all. That's the best way to add value to your stratosphere. That is the best way to fulfill your purpose. Don't be the only creation that doesn't create anything.
If charcoal can create fire, if excrete can create manure, if a log of wood can create furniture fit for kings' palaces, how much more you, who have the ability and Spirit of the Almighty?
Don't waste away. Just Create.
