What use would our mind be to us if our body goes extinct?
Yes, we have lost our priority. Sadly.
We are all going agog in search for money, fame, pleasure, indulgence, and all the cares of this life, but the majority of us have long forgotten what our true priority should be. What our focus in this life should be. We have forgotten the most important thing as we chase the fleeting things that won't matter in the next few years.
There's only little that we should be truly focused on, amidst the myriad of things calling our attention and things we spend our days hustling for, and you know the beauty of the only thing that truly matters? It is the only thing in our control, but perhaps because we believe we can always go back to it, and that it will always be here, we completely neglect it to chase all the things that don't matter.
It is the way of the world now. To leave the things that will always matter for the ones that won't.
I listened to a podcast a few days back where the speaker explained a scenario. If you were given 10,000,000 dollars right now, how would you feel? On top of the world right? You'd feel like you could fly, you could do anything, you'd feel invincible, like the luckiest person on earth, won't you?
Affirmative. But here's the catch: you take the money, it becomes yours, and you don't get to wake up the following morning. Would you still receive the money? No? A whopping 10,000,000 dollars? No? It now pales in comparison with waking up? You're saying you'd rate waking up in the morning higher than receiving 10,000,000 dollars?
How about a billion dollars? You still won't accept it if it meant you don't get to wake up the next day? Wow! I want to pretend that I'm shocked, but I am not. After all, what is wealth and pleasures if we don't get to spend them? What is money if there's no waking up?
Now that we have conceptualised it, we can all agree that we regard waking up in the morning than we do multiple millions of dollars, right? But how come we don't treat waking up as that?
We don't treat ourselves kind enough to show that we truly care about waking up in the morning. We have generally stopped paying attention to whether or not we wake up, and even when we eventually wake up, we don't feel like we have won a greater than 10,000,000 dollars.
We wake up with an attitude, grumpy, entitled, with zero gratitude, like we would rather do without waking up. We spend the whole day in this same attitude and go to bed, expecting the same thing the following day.
We have turned our life into a routine, when we should be feeling like we just received millions of dollars every morning.
And this is beyond just waking up. It is in taking care of ourselves.
We don't get enough sleep to guarantee a proper morning. We don't eat enough to show that we care about our bodies and ability to get out of bed the next day. We don't treat our body like it is; our most prized possession, or rather, our one priceless possession.
This is why I ask; have we lost our priority?
Where will everything we currently chase in life be, if we aren't there anymore? What use would our mind be if our body is extinct? That you rate your waking up, you rate your life more than that amount of money shows you exactly what your major focus should be. Taking care of yourself.
Where will everything we currently chase in life be, if we aren't there anymore? Would it truly matter?
Personal growth can only matter when there is the person to begin with. A person can only chase growth to the tune of health the person has. So, how about you turn your focus to that one thing that truly matters then?
Hunt down all the habits that you know are limiting the health of your most prized possession. It is completely in our control to choose how to take care of ourselves.
You cannot have the growth we preach daily, you cannot smash the goals we ask that you set daily, you cannot build the relationships we advise you build, you cannot build a famed career you want, you cannot make use of those skills and knowledge you are amassing, if there is no you. So how about you start employing a little selfishness, and start taking care of you?
You know all the habits you need to eliminate to help you take better care of yourself. You know the habits you need to develop to make your asset function optimally. See why you are in full and complete control over it?
Remember, everytime you are about to choose wrong and put your asset in danger, that you would rather be alive and healthy than have a billion dollars.
Remember, everytime you wake up in the morning, that you have just received a better than one billion dollars, and take up the kind of attitude that shows you truly believe this. Gratitude.
To your health,

Self care is underrated really🥺
It's called personal growth because it starts with a person. May God help us
