Dreams will remain dreams if you never wake up.
It is great to be ambitious, to dream big dreams and build castles with your mind, but without an action, a thousand dreams are better left not dreamt.
I mean, the most powerful tool at our disposal as humans is our ability to imagine a new world, but the reason the imagination is there is so that it spurs you to act upon it.
Your mind will never conceive anything unless it is possible for that thing to become a reality, so if it comes to your mind, that means it has the potential of coming to your hands, but it will not fall down from the sky.
The driving cars and flying boxes today were conceived in the minds of some people. Everything that you see around you today was once technology, conceived by someone's mind just the same way a lot of seemingly impossible ideas seep into your mind today.
The only difference between you and those folks who have written their names in the halls of life is that they did something about it!
What fuels the universe today is the human mind, and as impossible as it is to believe this, you have that same mind.
If you are reading this, you'd agree with me that there have been times, a lot of them, that your mind conceived an idea, and to this day, you haven't done anything about it. Maybe because of the limitations you looked for that made it impossible, maybe because of fear of failure and rejection. Whatever it is, you have convinced your mind that it's not going to work, and so, nothing has been done.
For some, this has happened once, for some, it has happened countlessly. In fact, some people's mind work so much that they can conceive three different ideas in a single day, everyday, but they have nothing to show for it. And in their minds, they believe it is for good reason. They usually have good excuses already arranged.
If you think you can't, you're right. And if you think you can, you are also right.
If you look for all the ways that it won't work, and you deliberately focus on it, then it will never work, but if you look for ways that it would work, even if it's just a 10% chance that it would work, it just might work.
Even if you have just one percent chance at succeeding at something, as much as it behoves you, take that chance. Babatunde Ibukun tweeted some days ago; "You will definitely not get picked for applications you did not submit.”
If you do it, it might work, but if you don't do it, it will NOT work. Why opt for a zero chance of it not working against a little chance that it might work?
I'll tell you why. Laziness. We all want to take the path of least resistance. We want to follow the path of mundane men and expect to live extraordinary lives.
It will not happen.
The dreams you have will not come true by themselves. Peter Thiel, in the concluding pages of his book, Zero to One asserted, "the future won't happen on its own."
Until you grow the balls to explore the 1% chance that what you have conceived in your mind will work, you will live like the average person. It is a bitter truth, but it is the truth.
I implore you this December week; make it your mission to grow some balls and take deliberate steps towards the future you have conceived in your mind. It will not happen on its own. You either chart the course of that future, or it will find its way into the mind of someone else who'd do something about it.
This is how the world works. For an idea whose time has come, if you don't do anything about it, it will still happen, but it will happen without you.
To your growth,
To our growth,
