Where there is room for growth, there can never be perfection.
— Handzinspired
Why spend time denying your nature? Why cripple yourself with the thought of being who you are?
As good intentioned as trying to be perfect or nothing all the time is, it is very limiting, terribly limiting, because no matter how we try, we are and always will be humans.
We will grow, we will increase, we will advance, we will develop, but we will still be humans.
So why not allow yourself to be human? It is only in this that we can truly accept ourselves and grow. If we keep resisting the human in us, how then will we have an opportunity to grow?
Selah.
Many, for fear of doing less than perfect, never do anything at all, until the energy of their youth wanes and time elapses. They don't understand that perfection is a myth, and it keeps us from growing the very imperfect human that we are.
Even people that we look up to, people who have seemingly attained some kind of sixth sense and seem to be glowing people that cannot make any mistakes, they are still humans, and they are still flawed!
Maybe less flawed than some others, but they are still flawed. And less or more, even that is relative.
No matter what we become, truth is, we will always remain humans, this is what we must accept, that we are inherently flawed human beings.
Except you are God, or you have shed your flesh completely, that is, you are no longer in this flawed body of yours, then perfection is a myth!
I always remind myself, even as I strive and make it my mission to add at least one cubit of growth to myself physically, spiritually and mentally everyday, that I am an inherently flawed human, I can make mistakes, I can fuck up, I can let myself slip into indiscipline when I'm not watching. It is a completely human thing to do.
But you know what is also human? Growing, expanding and trying again everytime you fuck up, because one day, the elasticity that we have as humans will help us get our goal.
We are all humans; inherently flawed humans.
Getting this into your head will help you go ahead to write that book, because you know, even though the book won't be perfect, it will be written, and the idea will be out there.
Even though the idea isn't perfect, it is out there, and there'd be room for correction, growth, and reviews. This will help you build your muscles and get better for the next book.
Guess what? Even the next book won't be perfect! Yes, shocker! But it's going to be better than the first. Same with the next, and the next, and the next.
The same goes for writing songs, singing them, acting, creating a project, building a business or career, building relationships, building your body, building your finances, trying to save money, maintaining discipline, building a habit, you name it, anything at all!
Whatever it is, there is always room for growth, and where there is room for growth, there never can be perfection.
There is always room for growth, and where there is room for growth, there never can be perfection.
Perfection is a myth. The beauty of the world is in getting better. Imagine a world where you are perfect and you need no growth anymore. What the hell are you doing here then, Shifu?
Dear Human, you will make mistakes, you are not perfect. Don't let yourself be crippled by perfection.
Don't be so careful and scared to fail or make mistakes that you never do anything and never even scratch the surface of your purpose.
Don't be so scared of stepping on other people's shoes that you stop yourself from walking all together.
If you choose to walk, have it in your mind that you will stumble at some point, you will fall at some point, you will step on other people at some point. It is inevitable, because you are human.
If you choose to walk, have it in your mind that you will stumble at some point, you will fall at some point, you will step on other people at some point. It is inevitable, because you are human.
However, as you walk, you get firmer, you get stronger, you build your muscles, and even though you make mistakes, you make less and less mistakes, until you are at the top.
And being at the top even, doesn't mean you are perfect already. It just means you have let yourself make so many mistakes in the past, that you now make few of them, fewer than those still coming behind you.
Dear Human, please, stop denying your nature, allow yourself to be human. Only then do you have any hopes to grow, and to become.
To your growth,
