To speak is to cast spells. In casting spells, ensure you are casting pearls, upon yourself, and upon the world around you.
— Abiola Okun
I learned something a few weeks ago that is potent enough to change our lives forever, and it is the fact that we are Spell-casters, every single one of us. Or better put, we are magicians, powerful enough to cast and create something out of nothing, in our lives and that of others.
How? You might ask.
If you are like me, you would have grown up watching animations where the evil genius witches, the fairies, or the enchantresses would cast spells and those spells would stick, going on for an entire life, and if the conditions are good enough, could even go on for entire generations.
Animations like Dracula, Beauty and the Beast, Snow White and the Twelve Dwarves, Rapunzel, etc. Even movies like Legend of the Seeker, Merlin, The Witcher, you name it. These works of art introduced us early enough to spell casting, and that's the foundation necessary for this newsletter.
To cast a spell, simply put, is to say something that then sticks to reality. And I am glad to announce if you didn't already know, that you, dear reader, are a Spell-caster!
In pre-school, when we were being tested with words, our teachers would say, "Spell [the word]. As adults, we have also mastered the art of using the word 'Spell' in sentences, ‘Spell it out clearly so I can understand.‘ More like ‘Spell it out clearly so it can stick to reality.‘
Except that we haven't been awakened to the fact that the 'Spell' in "Spell it out and let me hear!" and the "Spell' in "She cast a spell on me," are effectively the same things.
Both contain power, intention, voice, thought, and knowledge, and this is exactly what you need to make something stick to reality. This is why I am glad to make a second announcement; every single day of our lives is filled with spells that we cast upon ourselves and upon others.
Every single day of our lives is filled with spells that we cast upon ourselves and upon others.
What is even more alarming is that the spells we cast upon ourselves are much more potent than the ones we cast on people or the ones other people cast on us.
If we were to put a ratio to it, maybe it'd be 70:30. Making the spells you cast on yourself the larger part of the ratio.
Again, spells are simply words spoken out, backed with knowledge, intention, thought, and power, and trust me, you've got power if you've got life.
Every single day, as you go around speaking, to yourself, and to other people, just know that you're casting spells that, given the right conditions, will come to pass and could even stick for generations.
The spells you cast can either lead to insecurity or confidence in yourself or someone else. They can lead to depression or healing in yourself or someone else. The spells you cast can lead to life or death in yourself or someone else. It can lead to healthy relationships or emotional withdrawals.
Those spells are real! And many times, what is spelled out cannot be remedied. It will always be there, until someone deliberately casts another spell on top of it, with the hope that the new spell is strong enough to break the previous spell.
What do I want you to take out of this newsletter?
You are powerful. The words you say are either life-giving or murderous both to you and to other people. As a result, we must learn to pick the spells we cast carefully, first on ourselves, and on other people.
Stop saying what you don't really mean. Stop joking around with insults and degrading thoughts and words, about yourself and other people. Every word you speak becomes a spell you cast. Every spell you cast becomes a life form that will grow. Don't contribute to making yourself or other people grow into something or someone ugly.
Every word you speak becomes a spell you cast. Every spell you cast becomes a life form that will grow.
Say things that are true, but not only true. Say things that are kind too. If it is true but not kind, you don't have to say it. Stop casting unkind, ugly spells. Say beautiful things and leave the ugly ones to other people to say. Remember, who you are informs the words that come out of your mouth, and the words that come out of your mouth still yet, make who you are.
A wise philosopher many years ago said, "Leave trash for LAWMA." Let other people complain, but not you. Let other people be unkind, but not you. Let other people cast evil spells, but not you. Cast the right spells, most especially to yourself.
Before you speak anything, remember that the words you spell out are spells that you cast, and these spells will mix with the universe and turn into reality. If I were you, before I speak, I'd ask, "Is this the reality I want to create in myself or in this person?"
Spellcaster oh spellcaster.
Don't forget to do good.
And to cast the right spells.
And so the world will be sane again.
At least the world around you.
To your growth,

I am indeed a spell caster. Our words can shape our realities and our future, and it is time we started being intentional about them. Thank you for this piece!
Thank you, sir! 👏🏾
